Urban planner, researcher, and legislative and research director for California YIMBY, an organization advocating for the construction of affordable housing in California. He is also pursuing a PhD in urban planning at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Holding a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from Rutgers University, as well as bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and political science, Nolan Gray has worked as an urban planner in New York and as a research associate at the Mercatus Center. Author of Arbitrary Lines: How Zoning Broke the American City and How to Fix It, he critiques restrictive zoning laws and advocates for reforms to facilitate housing development.
